Foreign Office, June 9, 1911. WITH reference to your letter of the 31st ultimo relative to the postponement of the proposed opium conference, I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to inform you that the Earl of Crewe is correct in thinking that the alternative mentioned at the close of the Foreign Office despatch of the 11th May to His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington will not be further pursued.
